Highlights: Strange and wonderful Colorado happenings Oct. 9-15

Think, create, search. It sounds like the new Google advertising campaign, but it actually refers to the options this week for putting your pot-primed mind in pondering mode. Challenge accepted.

The Life of Things (through Oct. 17)

This is another one of the Biennial of the Americas exhibits, and it’s a thinker, all right. Local and national artists were asked to create pieces that reflect what’s going on in the world, and the result is some weird stuff that’s fun to look at.

For instance, Jeffrey Allen Price, from Long Island, N.Y., crafts items out of used sponges – his depiction of the United States is pretty cool — and also is addressing the Greek financial crisis. Meanwhile, Denver resident Faith Williams uses credit and business cards to make you think about the abundance of those in our lives. The show is about to end — it’s at Processus (955 24th St.) Tuesday-Saturday 10 a.m.-6 p.m. until Oct. 17. Free. Click here for details

Puff, Pass and Paint (through Oct. 31)

Artist/teacher Heidi Keyes wanted to encourage the cannabis-fueled creative process, and so the painting classes in her private studio from 7-9 p.m. on Saturdays are relaxed, supportive and encouraging.

Find your inner whatever using the equipment supplied: paints, canvas, brushes, you name it — pretty much everything you need to let it flow (including a little pot passed around, but not sold, as that would be illegal). Classes are small, cost $50 and sell out fast. Click here for details

Amazing Scavenger Hunt Adventure (ongoing)

This sounds almost as fun as an escape room: Get 2-5 of your peeps together — if you have more, you can compete as teams — to explore the city while following a scavenger hunt through your smartphone.

The game starts at the Capitol building and ends at the Brown Palace Hotel, and along the way you walk about 2 miles over 2 hours, face 17 challenges and, sneaky, learn more about Denver than you probably wanted to know. The game costs $49, but if you enter DENVER365, the price goes down to $39.20. There’s no prize, but your team name is displayed on a leaderboard for bragging rights. Click here for details
